Gareth is a commercially focused Learning & Development/Talent Professional with extensive experience of working strategically and operationally in both the private and public sector, supporting globally based organisations. He is a strong, affiliative leader with high energy, drive for results, decisiveness and presence, balanced with the ability to build partnerships and influence others.
Gareth has created innovative development programmes and talent initiatives, in partnership with business leaders that have enabled successful implementation and delivery of strategic objectives. Following a 3 year BEd teacher training programme, Gareth’s early career was as an officer in the Royal Air Force. Whilst having a ‘thirst’ for adventure and challenge he has always had learning and development as a constant passion. Upon completing an MSc in Training towards the end of his RAF service, he entered corporate life working both internationally and nationally in a number of Group Head of L&D and Talent roles across a range of industries within FTSE 100 companies that have included Market Research, House Building, Construction, Facilities Management and Waste Services.
Gareth has significant expertise in designing and implementing career pathways, performance management, career development, talent management and succession processes, and enjoys seeing how a focused approach to these areas can help shape the high performing organisation. His work in talent management has been shortlisted in the past for a number of prestigious awards. He is also highly experienced in senior management and leadership development, including assessment, design, programme delivery and coaching support for senior high potentials. One particular area worthy of mention has been his leadership of Academy startups within companies, possibly the most notable being the Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy in Ilford, East London with Crossrail.
