AI's Energy Paradox: Efficiency Gains or Power Grid Strain?

It is not secret that Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming our world – promising unprecedented gains in efficiency, from optimizing logistics to reducing energy consumption. But beneath this optimism lies a growing paradox: AI itself is emerging as a major consumer of electricity, straining power grids that were already under pressure from increasing demands. The technology that was supposed to make our lives easier and our energy use more efficient is creating challenges that could undermine its very benefits. As we rush to embrace AI, it’s time to ask ourselves: Are we prepared for the cost of powering this technological leap?

I explore this question about the AI’s Energy Paradox in this weeks Featured Article in The Nexus Newsletter. The Nexus of Technology + Culture + Leadership + Talent Today for the discerning professional.

This is the October 3rd, 2024, Edition and Issue #36. It is my pleasure to share my thoughts and ideas with you each week.
